Our goal is to increase family self-sufficiency and combat poverty through projects that kindle hope, provide support, build skills, and increase awareness and knowledge of available resources.

Play Night at Help Philadelphia
Mondays, July 6, 13, 29 & 27, 5:45pm-8:00pm

Play games with the adorable children of this transitional housing facility while their parents learn life and job skills.

Books through Bars

(5-6 volunteers needed; Southwest Philadelphia/ 3rd Tuesdays)
Books through Bars, an agency that provides reading materials to inmates, could use your help reading letters from prisoners, looking for books they requested, and packing the books for shipment. Feel free to stay on past 8:30. more help is always appreciated!

 Values through Sports and Arts & Crafts
Saturdays, July 11 & 25, 10:45am-2:00pm
(4-10 volunteers needed; Nicetown/Twice monthly)
Support New Creation Community Center's program to help at-risk, inner city children and youth develop self-esteem, creativity, values, and life skills through structured activities. Head outside to play basketball or stay inside to assist children with an arts and crafts project. Lunch is provided at 12:30 to keep everyone energized!

Recipes for Success at Northern Home for Children
Sunday, July 19, 5:00pm-7:00pm
(4 volunteers needed; Roxborough/1st & 3rd Sundays
Cook with young moms as you share healthy recipes and good nutrition practices with them. One volunteer is needed to watch children while their mothers are cooking. No special experience needed - all recipes and activities will be provided.
