Seniors

Our goal is to increase civic participation of Greater Philadelphians over 60, providing opportunities for seniors to share their wisdom and experience with others. In 2005, 5% of our volunteer force will consist of individuals over 60.

Senior Social Club at The Watermark at Logan Square - (Wheelchair Accessible)
Tuesdays, July 7, 14, 21 & 28, 6:45pm-8:00pm
(4-6 volunteers needed; Center City/ Tuesdays)
Socialize and lead activities with the eager senior citizens in this residential care facility. Volunteers will read aloud, play games, enjoy music or just chat with a lovely group of seniors.

Casino Night at Maple Wood Manor - (Wheelchair Accessible)
Mondays, July 6, 13, 20 & 27, 6:45pm-8:00pm
(4-6 volunteers needed; Germantown/Mondays)
You'll bring cheer to someone's heart by helping out with the different casino activities at Maple Wood Manor and distributing prizes to the winners. This will be an exciting evening that will bring joy to the seniors and the volunteers involved.

BINGO! Kearsley Retirement Community Center - (Wheelchair Accessible)
Wednesdays, July 1 & 15, 6:30pm-7:30pm
(2-4 volunteers needed; West Philadelphia/1st & 3rd Wednesday)
Come join the game by calling numbers and distributing prizes to the winners. Have an exciting evening that will bring joy to the seniors! Project Leaders:

Book Club at Hayes Manor Retirement Home - (Wheelchair Accessible)
Thursdays, July 9 & 23, 6:00pm-7:15pm
(1-2 volunteers needed; City Line/2nd & 4th Thursdays)
Come read to seniors at this fun senior book club in West Philadelphia. Bring your favorite book and you'll get right to reading as eager seniors who are no longer able to read listen on.

Hayes Manor Spa Party - (Wheelchair Accessible, Family Friendly)
Saturday, July 25, 1:00pm-2:15pm
(3-5 volunteers needed; City Line/4th Saturdays)
Give the seniors at Hayes Manor a fun day of beauty! Volunteers will brighten the day of the lovely ladies at Hayes Manor by painting their nails and helping to give them other spa delights.
