Digital Inclusion

Our goal is to increase accessibility and training offered to people across the digital divide, by engaging skilled volunteers in projects that strengthen resources, increase knowledge and build and bolster skills of non-profit employees and their constituents.

Computers for Youth
Saturday, September ?, 8:30am-12:30pm & 12:30pm-4:30pm
(4-6 volunteers needed for each shift; several locations/Special)
Help to improve educational prospects for low-income students by assisting them and their families in a computer training session. Volunteers will help families assemble their computer hardware, teach them about basic software operations and internet tools, and show parents how to use software programs that will help their children in school. After the session, the students get to take their computer home. Volunteers do not need prior computer training experience to participate!

NTR Computer Thrift Store - Family Friendly
Saturdays, September 13 & 27, 10:00am-12:00pm
(3-15 volunteers needed; Fairmount Area/2 Saturdays)
Nonprofit Technology Resources serves low-income Philadelphia residents by recycling used computers, providing hands on training and assisting community-based service organizations to use computers in their work. Join in the fun by sorting and organizing donated equipment.

Mondays, September 8 & 22, 6:00pm-7:00pm
(2-4 volunteers needed; Center City / 2nd & 4thMondays)
Go online! Help seniors improve their computer skills by teaching them the basics of email, typing and Internet usage.

American Postal Workers House Computer Session - (Wheelchair Accessible, Family Friendly)
Wednesday, September 17, 6:00pm-8:00pm
(1-2 volunteers needed; Center City/3rdWednesday)
Help senior and special needs residents at this apartment complex to keep in touch with their loved ones and brush up on their computer skills. Volunteers will teach e-mail, letter writing, and Internet skills and/or coach residents to use various software programs.
