Disabilities

Our goal is to increase civic participation of people living with disabilites by engaging them in volunteerism and increasing awareness of issues impacting people living with disabilities. In 2005, 5% of our volunteer force will consist of people who identify themselves as living with disabilities.

Carousel House
Friday, September 12, 6:00pm-9:30pm
(5-6 volunteers; City Line/Special)
Get out your dancing shoes and prepare to have a fun evening at Carousel House. Volunteers will help serve dinner and may get a chance to take a spin around the dance floor!

Camp Hill Village Kimberton Hills
Saturday, September 13, 10:00am-1:00pm
(4-6 volunteers needed; Chester County/One Saturday)
Get to know the residents of magical Camphill Village Kimberton Hills, a sustainable farming community for the developmentally disabled. Members of the village live a fulfilling life by weaving, farming, baking bread and cookies for sale, completing household work, and celebrating their community. Volunteers will spend quality time and enjoy a healthy lunch with the residents.

Inglis House Pizza Party - (Wheelchair Accessible, Family Friendly)
Saturday, September 13, 1:00pm-3:00pm
(5-10 volunteers needed; City Line/2nd Saturdays)
Have fun with the residents of Inglis House while you talk and play games during their party.

Pegasus Riding Academy
Saturdays, September 13 & 27, 9:00am-12:00pm
(3-6 volunteers needed; Northeast/Two Saturdays)
Pegasus needs your help in providing disabled individuals with therapeutic riding lessons. Volunteers help lead the horse, spot the rider, groom and feed the animals and clean the stable. Pegasus is the only fully certified, medically approved, riding therapy program in Philadelphia.
