way to get involved with Greater Philadelphia Cares. One day can truly make a difference!
Philadelphia Cares Day
Improve our city's public schools by painting classrooms, restoring playgrounds, and creating green spaces
at more than 100 learning centers!
National Youth Service Day
Celebrate National Youth Service Day and join hundreds of youth volunteers working to serve our community.
Philadelphia Cares About Fairmount Park Day
Beautify the parks during Philadelphia Cares about Fairmount Park Day! Projects range from gardening, planting and
mulching to trail work, tree planting and painting.
Corporate Leadership Breakfast
Civic leaders and corporate partners gather to celebrate the spirit of corporate and community collaboration
with Greater Philadelphia Cares.
Principal For A Day
Local corporate and community leaders exit the boardroom for the classroom during Principal For A Day. In partnership
with the School District of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Education Fund and Merrill Lynch, Greater Philadelphia Cares
recruits some of the region’s most influential leaders to “shadow” urban administrators
throughout the district.
Philadelphia Marathon
Be part of the Philadelphia Marathon, a world-class athletic event! Be among some two thousand volunteers on hand to support the race. There are opportunities to assist with pre-race activities such as packet stuffing, registration, expo, and the information booth. Race day activities will include course monitors, support at the start, finish, and other parts of the course.
Principal Partnerships
Through Greater Philadelphia Cares’ Principal Partnerships program, there are a number of ways to continue
(or start!) your relationship and make a difference at a Philadelphia public school.
Adopt-A-Family
Each winter holiday season, the Adopt-a-Family program identifies families in need and matches them with charitable
individuals or organizations.
Winter Coat Drive
Every year, thousands of children, men and women in Philadelphia do without the warmth of a winter coat. You can
help provide them with this basic necessity through the Annual Winter Coat Drive.
MLK Day - Day of Reflection, Lifetime of Action
Each year, on the third Monday of January, we celebrate the birth, the life, and the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr. Greater Philadelphia Cares offers you a series of service workshops and volunteer opportunities focused on engaging
and inspiring individuals to commit to a lifetime of service.
